I don't have enough experience with the PERC6 card but I believe it cannot address more than 2TB drives in a RAID array. I believe this is due to addressing issues inherent with the chipset. You can run larger drives with the card acting as a HBA.
Your choice is to replace it with a H700/H710, H800/H810 or H200/H310 card and build the array. You could also go for another ESXi-HCL listed card - the IBM M5014 is very popular.

They will be providing full training but it's always good to get stuck in beforehand. Hello all, I have been researching into building a new VMWare ESXi server to run an Apache web server, multiple game servers, and other os virtualization (Mac OSX, Windows, Linux, Etc.), that I would like to run smoothly and without any hiccups having a number of the VMs running at the same time.

I personally run a HP N40L Microserver with XPenology on it for storage on my Lab boxes (which used to be the Microservers before I upgraded to faster machines). Provides shares via NFS & iSCSI, and if you put a dual-port Intel NIC in it then you can get quite reasonable speeds out of it. Canon imageclass d300 driver. XPenology also supports running virtualised under ESXi but I am not sure if you can use NFS/iSCSI storage with it on the same host.

I have seen some guys run FreeNAS under ESXi but it seems like a real kludge to me. Requires RDM's and a few other tricks. Unless you have VT-d you are kind of stuck in that regard.
